VC is exiting Fintech
via IPOs. We saw a few in the second half of 2020, and the unexpected success in Lemonade’s IPO has set the stage for at least a dozen big launches in early 2021. About a four minute read.
Comment: there is so much liquidity sloshing about the system presently, VCs sense an exceptional opportunity to exit, and likely at a relatively high profit. Some of these entities (e.g., Robinhood) have been in business less than a decade and have built sustainable, profitable businesses. Combined with the ample liquidity, this is a perfect time for VC to exit.
